Recurring gifts, renewals & MRR

How monthly giving, renewals, and recurring revenue are tracked.

A short screen-by-screen video for this guide is on the way.

Monthly gifts are real Stripe subscriptions. The first gift is a new monthly donor; each later charge is a renewal. Fundrly distinguishes the two so your "new gifts" numbers aren't inflated by renewals, and computes your true monthly recurring revenue (MRR).

The Recurring page

Insights → Recurring shows your live monthly revenue, a list of active monthly donors (with amount and start date), and anyone who cancelled this month. The "Monthly giving" card on your Overview links straight here — its "active" and "cancelled" numbers open this report.

Status comes straight from Stripe in real time: if a donor cancels (from their receipt's manage link), or a card lapses, or you cancel a subscription, it leaves your active count and MRR immediately — no waiting and no guesswork.

Cancelling a recurring gift

Each active monthly donor has a Cancel button right on the Recurring page — so you can stop a recurring gift without opening your Stripe dashboard, just like refunding a one-time gift. You'll get a confirmation first. Cancelling stops all future charges; gifts already made aren't touched (refund those separately from Donations if needed). The donor would need to set up a new recurring gift to restart.

Tip · Renewals are intentionally not re-sent to your analytics or email platforms — only the first gift is — so a long-time monthly donor doesn't get counted (or re-welcomed) every month.
